Glasgow Labour Councillor Judith Fisher today thanks all those who have helped the campaign for a new-build Primary school at Blairdardie. The Scottish Government have announced that these kinds of projects will now be able to go ahead, after they were put under threat earlier this year.
Previously, Councillor Fisher had submitted a motion to Glasgow City Council calling on the Scottish Government to ‘put its money where its mouth is’.
Responding, Councillor Fisher said: “I am delighted that the pressure put on the Scottish Government by local activists, Councillors and other elected members across the country now means that the children in Blairdardie Primary School are one step closer to a new school.
“During my election in 2012, I promised that I would work with anyone to deliver this new school. Glasgow City Council’s portion of funding stands ready and waiting.
“Now, I and Glasgow City Council will work wholeheartedly with the Scottish Government now to help secure their portion of the funding.
“Our children deserve the best learning environment, and I will keep working until it is delivered.”
