    Polling Day 2016

Polling day is one the busiest times of our campaign. As thousands of people right across our communities go out to vote, we've got to get out there: make sure that our voters remember it's polling day, know where they can vote and to use #bothvotesLabour!

Can you help us get out the Labour vote, and speak to those key undecideds who will be key to this election?

Sign up below to help - we need people to give people lifts to polling stations, to join our doorknocking teams, to join our phoning teams, to stand on a polling station and to deliver our early morning leaflets.
  • Pledges

Ahead of the election on May 5th, I make these five pledges to you.

    Bill Profile Picture

I got into politics because I believe that by working together we can make our communities better.

Only Scottish Labour has a plan to make Scotland fairer—and we’re upfront and honest about how we will pay for it.

Under the SNP, there are 4,000 fewer teachers and 150,000 fewer college places. There is a better way.

We can make our communities fairer places to live, by asking those with the broadest shoulders to bear the biggest burden. By using the powers of our parliament to reverse Tory tax cuts for the wealthiest and put 1p on income tax.

We have a costed plan for a fairer Scotland.

I’m asking you to vote for that fairer Scotland.

    Best wishes,
    Bill

It didn't have to be this way

Today, Glasgow City Council has set the most difficult budget in recent times. The Tories are cutting Scotland’s budget by 1.5%, but the SNP are continuing that conveyor belt of Tory austerity and cutting into the heart of our communities.

ICYMI: On the Campaign Trail this week

KidsNotCuts Rally I joined my colleagues from across the Labour movement outside the Scottish Parliament to demand that the SNP use the powers of the Parliament to stop Tory austerity. I am bitterly disappointed by their actions. Only Scottish Labour is committed to protecting local government jobs and services. We cannot underestimate the effects of these cuts on communities and livelihoods.

    Bill Butler: listening to you

    Survey

I know that our communities are a great place to live, but I also know that by working together, we can make them even better.

Over the past few years, I have had the privilege of speaking to thousands of your fellow residents. I’ve spoken to them about our communities, and how we can change them for the better.

I would be grateful if you could take a few short minutes to take part in my survey and let me know what you think.  I came into politics because I want to change lives by working with the people we seek to represent, that’s why I want to listen to you.
